Iowa City — Iowa defensive coordinator Phil Parker has been named among 15 other coaches for the prestigious Broyles Award, given annually to the nation’s top assistant.
Parker has helped orchestrate another dominant Hawkeye defense that leads the nation with 19 interceptions and his third in total takeaways with 24.
Iowa is also seventh in scoring defense and 12th in total defense.
The award will be announced in late December.
