Ames — Iowa State tight end Charlie Kolar, already named the William Campbell Award winner for the nation’s best scholar-athlete, earned another prestigious academic award yesterday.
Kolar was tabbed as the Big 12’s Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Kolar follows current Minnesota Viking star Kene Nwangu as back-to-back Cyclone winners of the award.
As a three-time All-American and three-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, Kolar is the only football player in school history to earn First Team CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades three times.
Kolar is a projected 3rd round pick in April’s upcoming NFL Draft.
