Continuing Discussion Over New Cement Plant Zoning

The Henry County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Thursday, July 13th, at 9am. Joe Buffington, with the Henry County Planning and Zoning Commission was in attendance of the public hearing for the 1st reading of an ordinance to rezone a part of the section 7 township.

After much discussion with Chad Ebling, who plans to build a cement plant in an area to the west of Hickory Avenue, talks were tabled. There are a few concerns over the cement plant being 400 ft away from the road, as some believe it is too close to homes in the area.

The supervisors raised the idea of building the plant closer to 750 ft, but the owner believes that takes up too much room and would not work financially, especially since there is no water or power that far back.

It is now up to the owner to bring a site plan to the next meeting and public forum, which is on July 25th at 9am.

KILJ will continue to update the public as this information is released.
