Dana Holmstrom, 75, of Mount Pleasant died Monday, November 1, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Dana was born June 11, 1946, in Lubbock, Texas, the daughter of U.L. and Martha Helen (McSpadden) Ward. She graduated from Venice High School in Venice Beach, California. Dana was united in marriage to Ralph Holmstrom on April 2, 1966, in Santa Monica, California. In 1984, the couple moved to Oklahoma, and had made Mount Pleasant their home since 1987. Dana had worked for Wesley Barton Construction since 1988.
Dana and Ralph attended Faith Christian Outreach Church in Mount Pleasant, where they taught Sunday School for approximately 20 years. Most recently they attended Harmony Bible Church in Burlington. Ralph and Dana were foster parents for many years. Every summer Ralph and Dana would have the grandchildren over for GKCC “Grand Kids Camp Connection.” They loved the quality time and fun activities they all got to do together. Dana had a heart for volunteering where she started up the Pumpkin Patch Party and the Mount Pleasant Christian School auction. She loved to garden, decorate and paint and shared her talents with Vacation Bible School. Dana also enjoyed preparing gourmet meals for her family and friends.
Dana is survived by four daughters, Danielle (Todd) Havener of Burlington, Meredith (Andy) Wohlleber of Mount Pleasant, Marikay (Jared) Rebling of Brighton, Heather (Jasen) Albrecht of Huron, South Dakota; a son Dez (Lily) Broeg of Aurelia; and 14 grandchildren, Taryn and Teague Havener, Michal and Lane Wohlleber, Ryan, Raegan, and Rhea Rebling, Jaden and Izzabella Coffin, Addison, Jenna, Gabriella, and Evangelina Albrecht, and Quinn Broeg.
Dana was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ralph.
Public visitation will be held Friday, November 5, 2021, from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. Family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, Brad Gillis will officiate.
