David Helmick, 63, of Argyle, Iowa, passed away at 5:51 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at his home in Argyle.
He was born on November 15, 1958, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Walter and Mary (Rempe) Helmick. On May 4, 1985, he married Linda Elaine Gabel in Fort Madison, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife: Linda; one daughter: Amanda (Aaron) Halbur; grandsons: Noah David Halbur, Leonard William Halbur and one sister: Carol Helmick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Robert Helmick.
David was a custodian for Hamilton School District for thirty-one years he then was custodian for the past year at Fort Madison School District. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Madison and the Three Rivers Tractor Club. David enjoyed driving his classic 1956 Ford Victoria car and 1979 F100 truck, giving his grandsons tractor rides, antique tractor pulling, especially his Minneapolis Molines (which were the world’s finest tractors) and playing with any toy that had four wheels.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Holy Family Parish Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Madison with Father John Stack as celebrant.
Burial will be at Argyle Memorial Gardens in rural Argyle, Iowa. Following the burial, a picnic will be held at Linda and David’s home to celebrate his life.
A memorial has been established in his memory for Mary’s Meals or Izaak Walton League.
