The Children’s Discovery Center at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library is open from 10am-12pm.  The Discovery Center is also open on Monday from 12pm-2pm where there is something to discover for children of all ages!

DMC Regional Waste’s main drop-off location at 1000 West Washington Street in Mount Pleasant is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Residents can drop off recyclables and rechargeable batteries during these hours.

The Soil Health Workshop and Field Day will be held Friday, March 27 at 9:00 a.m. at Fellowship Hall, 5460 Huron Road in Oakville. Farmers and agricultural professionals are invited to attend the free event featuring expert speakers, including nationally recognized farmer Kelly Garrett. The workshop will include soil health demonstrations, networking opportunities, and a ribeye meal provided by the Des Moines County Cattlemen. The event is supported by several agricultural organizations including the Iowa Soybean Association and Ducks Unlimited.

The Presbyterian Women are holding their annual Spring Rummage and Bake Sale from 12 PM to 6 PM, and on Saturday from 8 AM to 1 PM. The $2-a-Bag Sale will be on Saturday from 11 AM to 1 PM. All sales will be held in the Fellowship Hall at the First Presbyterian Church (902 S Walnut St, Mt Pleasant, IA). Doors open at noon!

National speaker and author Ben Greene will be in Fairfield on Friday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fairfield Public Library. This free event is open to the public and is appropriate for adults and teens. Greene will share insight on supporting transgender and gender-diverse youth and their families, offering practical guidance and a hopeful, community-focused message. Hosted by PFLAG Mount Pleasant.

The Houghton Knights of Columbus Fish Fry is from 5pm – 7:30pm at the KC Hall!  Whole Catfish, Fish Fillets, or Jumbo Shrimp with two sides are on the menu.  Carryout is available by calling 319-469-2641.  The next KC fish fry is scheduled for April 10th!

It’s Fish Fry Friday hosted by the St. Alphonsus Knights of Columbus starting at 5:30pm in Manning Hall, 607 S. Jackson Street.  Orders must be called in by 11am on Friday.  The menu includes a Fish Fillet dinner (fried or baked), $15 or a Jumbo Breaded Butterfly Shrimp dinner for $15.  All dinners come with a baked potato, baked beans, roll and your choice of applesauce or coleslaw.  Kids 12 & under eat for free with the purchase of an adult meal.  All proceeds from the fish fry go toward scholarships for St. Alphonsus high school seniors.  Dine In or Carry Out:  Tim (319-931-7036), Greg (319-931-5466), Bob (319-931-6781)

The Skunk River Valley Ducks Unlimited Annual Banquet will be held on Friday, March 27th at 6:00 p.m. Guests can enjoy a prime rib dinner, games, as well as silent and live auctions, all while supporting efforts to preserve Iowa’s natural wetlands. Admission is $45 for a single ticket or $60 with a spouse.

The Mount Pleasant High School Drama Department will present Mamma Mia! Friday, and Saturday at 7:00 p.m., with a Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. Performances will be held at the Heatilator Performing Arts Center in Mount Pleasant. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. Come out and enjoy this fun, high-energy musical featuring your local high school talent.
