The Mount Pleasant City compost site is open for the season Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm and Wednesdays from 1 to 6 pm. The site is located southwest of Saunders Park at the intersection of Yocum Lane and Hoaglin Drive.
The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is open from 8:30 am to 11 am at McMillan Park in the Wright Pavilion.
Fly Van Buren is back this year! The Fly-In breakfast will be held at the Keosauqua, Iowa Municipal Airport from 7:00 – 10:00 am. The Keosauqua Lions Club will be serving an all-you-can-eat Pancake & Sausage Breakfast beginning at 7:00 am, rain or shine for $7.00. All pilots are invited to Fly-In for a FREE breakfast! Main Street Mount Pleasant’s Sip and Shop runs today from 10 to 3. Participating businesses will be open, there will be pop-vendors as well as coffee and wine samples too.
Everyone is invited to a ceremony in Mount Pleasant’s Central Park dedicating a plaque recognizing essential workers. The ceremony will be held at 2 pm.
The Douds Field Day provides fun today and Sunday. All events will be held in Yates Memorial Park. There will be a provide at 10:30 am, vendor fair, food games, bags tournament and a farm horse skills demonstration as well as a dinner auction, kids games, live music and fireworks. On Sunday there is a community worship service, lunch and tractor pull.
It’s a full day of fun in Brighton during Whoopee Days. Everything kicks off at 7 am with the annual walk and the Lions Club Breakfast. The parade starts at 10 am. There will be vendors, crafts, a flea market and concessions all day. There is also music, the annual mud run and cemetery walk.
The Oakland Mills Nature Center is open Saturday mornings from 9 am to noon. Weekday appointments can be made by call 319-986-5067.
Everyone is invited to the Parkview Home Fundraiser in Wayland from 4:30 pm to 7 pm. The menu includes BBQ pork loin or turkey breast filet, hash brown casserole, baked beans, Hawaiian roll, brownie bar and bottle water. All proceeds go towards construction of a new maintenance building.
The Mount Pleasant Community Theatre presents, “Time Flies” at the Old Threshers Log Village at 6 pm. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Show contains adult humor. Free will donation. A second performance will be held June 20 same time, same place. There will also be a performance June 26 and June 27.
The City of New London’s summer movie in the park tonight features Toy Story 4 in the City park. The movie starts at dusk. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Free popcorn and beverages will be provided.
