The Henry County Historic Preservation Commission will meet Wednesday October 19 at 1:00 PM at East Grove Farms in the old Pilot Grove No. 6 one-room school. The building was moved to East Grove Farms last October and is undergoing preservation activity by the Garretson family.  The public is invited to attend. The address is 1878 335 St., Salem.

The City of Mount Pleasant compost site is open Wednesdays from noon to 5 pm and Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm.  The site is located southwest of Saunders Park at the intersection of Yocum Lane and Hoaglin Drive.

The Winfield Presbyterian Church will host a Harvest Supper serving from 5 to 6:30 pm. The menu includes ham balls, cheesy potatoes, green beans and a roll for $10.

The Van Buren County Farm Bureau is hosting a candidates forum at 7 pm at the Roberts Memorial Building in Keosauqua. Candidates for the Van Buren Count Board of Supervisors and County Treasurer will discuss local issues.
