Ferneitta Viola Woodall, 95, of New London, died peacefully surrounded by family Monday, August 19, 2024.
Ferneitta was born March 19, 1929 in Danville, the daughter of Frank Ernest and Sylvia Irene Millizer McCannon. On October 1, 1948 she married Robert D. Woodall in Burlington. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2020. She attended the New London Christian Church and worked for years as a cook for the New London Schools. She enjoyed reading, sitting outside, writing in her journal, Wordsearch puzzles, Hallmark movies, and anytime spent with family.
Ferneitta is survived by daughters, S. Jane (Rick) Salmon of West Burlington, Bonnie Vogeler of Mt. Pleasant, and son Rod (Pam) Woodall of Burlington; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren; brother Frank” Butch” McCannon of Lowell; nieces and nephews, and her cat, Bandit. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Dorothy Higdon and Donna Woodall Baker, and son-in-law Steve Vogeler.
A procession will leave Elliott Chapel, New London at 2:45 PM, Thursday, August 22 for a graveside service at 3:00 PM, in Brooks Cemetery, rural New London. There will be no family visitation. A memorial has been established to EveryStep Hospice and New London Fire and Rescue.
