Glenn Ervin Wagner, 75, of Franklin, Iowa, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point, Iowa.
He was born on September 10, 1949, in Fort Madison, Iowa. He was the son of Elmer and Mildred Wagner. In December of 1972, he married Shirley Petty. They later divorced.
He is survived by his three children: Renea (Jack) Farster of Donnellson, Iowa, Sheila (Michael Shaver) Kolling of Des Moines, Iowa, Alan (Laura Hoglund) Wagner of Machesney Park, Illinois; four grandchildren: Ariel LeMatty (financé Jason), Allyson Vanek, Jocelyn Vanek, Melissa Vanek; step-grandchildren: Lincoln Hoglund and Adeline Shavers. Also surviving are two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Glenn was a graduate of Central Lee High School. He was a purple heart recipient having served in the United States Army for two tours in Vietnam in 1969 and 1971, Glenn retired from Con Agra. He was member of the American Legion and enjoyed hunting, fishing and making his famous homemade wine.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that evening.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Tony Keefe officiating.
Burial will be at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa with full military rites presented by the Keokuk American Legion.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
