Henry county habitat for humanity is gearing up for their 32nd home build for a low-income family in Mount Pleasant. Henry county habitat for humanity has a goal to build safe, decent, affordable homes for low-income families that otherwise would not have the opportunity to own a home. The application process for the home has several elements. The potential partner needs to be able to show that they are in need of better housing, they will be asked to show their housing is inadequate. Current housing conditions can be unstable conditions, unhealthy or inaccessible to their needs. The applicant needs to make between 30% and 50% of Henry counties medium income, anywhere from $12,500 per year up to $31,000 per year. The chosen partner that will move into the home is required to put in 300 sweat equity hours when building the home. Lisa talks about what that consists of.
The average monthly payment ranges between $600 and $700 which does include the property taxes and insurance. The homeowner will need to be able to pay a 2% down payment pay the first year’s house insurance premium, and they must also participate in our financial course. Lisa explains the Application process
