Hubert J. Greiner

Hubert J. Greiner, age 74, of Keota, died Monday, January 3, 2022, at Keota Health Care Center.
Hubert was born March 11, 1947, in Ottumwa, to James and Darlene (Clarahan) Greiner. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul School and graduated from Keota High School in 1966. Hubert served in the Army Reserves from 1966 until 1972. On September 7, 1974, he married Melissia Laffoon at Ss. Peter and Paul Church. A lifelong resident of Keokuk County, Hubert farmed in the Talleyrand area. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Keokuk County Cattlemen and Limousin Association. Hubert especially enjoyed raising Limousin cattle and being active in 4-H.
Survivors include his wife: Melissia of Keota; four children: James Greiner of Keota, Ginny (Jeff) Plucar of Belle Plaine, Jeremiah (Anna) Greiner of Mt. Pleasant and Josh (Sarah) Greiner of Keota; eight grandchildren; four sisters: Janice (Ray) Doud of Chicago, Illinois, Linda (Terry) Powers of Ottumwa, Joyce (Chuck) Dayton of Marion and Marlene Greiner of St. Louis, Missouri; three brothers: Eugene (Karen) Greiner of Keota, Leon (Toni) Greiner of Keota and Marion (Lisa) Greiner of North Carolina and brother-in-law: Don Rowland of Albia. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Diane Rowland.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Holy Trinity Parish – St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with Rev. Robert Lathrop presiding. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a vigil service at 7:00.
