Kathryn Ann (Kathy) Francis, 78, died Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at her home in New London. She was born October 12, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Ewald and Thecla Raible Wenninghoff. She was graduate of Bishop Hogan High School in Kansas City, Missouri and on January 4, 1964 she married Leon Francis in Macon, Missouri.
Kathy was a housewife and mother, and bookkeeper for Francis Pump and Well/Francis Heating and Air Conditioning. She loved gardening and spending time outside with her flowers. Sweet tea and hot tea were her favorites. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant. She served as a Sunday School teacher and Awana leader. She and her husband were foster parents and cared for seven foster children in their home.
Kathy is survived by her husband; children Ray (Cheryl) Francis of New London, David (Candi) Francis of Middletown, Jennifer (Brian) Lane of Mt. Union, Brian Francis of Iowa City, Cathy (Matt) Gravert SanTan Valley, Arizona, Ryan (Sheri) Francis of New London, Jason Francis of Salem, Steven (Brooke) Francis of New London; twenty grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; brother Harold (Connie) Wenninghoff of Kansas City; and sister Kristin Wenninghoff of Kansas City. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Wenninghoff and sister-in-law Donna Wenninghoff.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Elliott Chapel, New London beginning at 9:00 AM, with the family greeting friends from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will follow visitation at 3:00 PM with Pastor Matt Yaley officiating. Inurnment of her cremains will be in Pleasant Grove South Cemetery, rural Danville.
