Larry Schenk, 83, of Mt. Pleasant died Friday, November 19, 2021, at his home.
Larry Lee Schenk born February 7, 1938, the son of Earl and Francis (Craig) Schenk. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. Larry served in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1962. On June 28, 1963, Larry was united in marriage to Judith Kay Iserman. He was a supervisor/inspector at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. Larry enjoyed riding bikes including on RAGBRAI, fishing, bow hunting, cars and going to car shows with his son Kevin, and he was a Hawkeye sports fan. Larry was an active member of Open Bible Church in Mt. Pleasant.
Survivors include one son Kevin (Terri) Schenk of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Robin (Raymond) Heitmeier of New London; one sister, Bonnie Thomas of Mt. Pleasant; one brother, Jim (Barb) Schenk of Mt. Pleasant, IA; 5 grandchildren, Billy Schroeder, Ryan Schenk, Cody Heitmeier, Jayde Heitmeier, Chloe (Jacob Hardy) Heitmeier; and one great-granddaughter, Leigha Schroder.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Francis; wife, Judy; and two brothers, Roger and Robert.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Olson Powell Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, November 22, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Olson Powell Memorial Chapel with Pastor Michael Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery with Military Rites. Memorials may be directed to EveryStep Hospice of Mt. Pleasant.
