Louise Marilyn (Hill) Stauffer

Louise M. Stauffer, 85, of Wayland, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at her home. A funeral service will be held Monday, October 31, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church in rural Wayland, with Pastor David Shreeves officiating. Burial will follow at the Wayland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 30, 2022, from 5 – 7 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial fund has been established for Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church and Compassus Hospice. The Beatty Funeral Home is assisting the family.

 

Louise Marilyn (Hill) Stauffer was born November 19, 1936, in Henry County, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Lucille (Bain) Hill. She was united in marriage to Edwin Stauffer on February 25, 1953, at the Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. She worked at the Calendar Factory in Washington and was a cook at Parkview in Wayland and WACO Schools. Louise was a member of the Merry 8 Pinochle Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was known for her cooking, keeping chocolate chip cookies in the freezer for anyone stopping by. She loved watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball and collected cardinal figurines. Louise enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards with family and friends, putting puzzles together, watching game shows, doing crossword puzzles, and reading.

 

Survivors include five children: Melinda Ullery, James (Gina) Stauffer, Marvin (Bobbi) Stauffer, Denise Stauffer (John) and Melvin Stauffer (Kathryn) all of Wayland; thirteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and four sisters: Lorene Allred, Maxine Sammons, Marge Ensminger and Ardith Ingwersen.

 

Preceding Louise in death were her parents, her husband Edwin, son Jason, her brother Bob Hill and son-in-law Dean Ullery.
