Wayne Ralph Walljasper

Wayne Ralph Walljasper, 65, of St. Paul, Iowa, passed away at 6:08 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison, Iowa.

He was born in November 22, 1956, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Mildred  (Fritzjunker) Walljasper. On April 28, 1984, he married Kathy Walljasper at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Houghton, Iowa. She preceded him in death on February 14, 2021.

Survivors include his daughter: Michelle (JD Hoover) Walljasper of Wever, Iowa; son: John Walljasper of St. Paul, Iowa; three grandchildren: Suttyn, Paxstyn, Ollyn; mother: Mildred of West Point, Iowa; six siblings: Wendel (Wendy) Walljasper, Arlo (Sherry) Walljasper; Sandy Kuhlmeier, Jeanne (Alan) Vantiger, Dean (Angie) Walljasper, Jolene (Alan) Edmonds; sister-in-law: Sue Schinstock; brothers-in-law: Dale (Terri) Schinstock, Ken Schinstock, Randy (Sharon) Schinstock. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Kathy; father: Ralph; sister: Mary Elizabeth; mother and father-in-law: Rosanna and Edward Schinstock; Kathy’s sister: Joan (in infancy) and brothers-in-law: Jerome Kuhlmeier and Larry Schinstock.

Wayne was a graduate of Marquette High School. He retired from Continental USA in Mt. Pleasant. He was a very faithful member of St. James the Less Catholic Church where he sang in the church choir and served on the parish council. He was a member and past Grand Knight of the Houghton Knights of Columbus Council #3905 and member and past Faithful Navigator of the Gallitzin Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Wayne enjoyed gardening, playing cards, going out for dinner, having coffee with his Continental co-workers, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He was known for always helping others whenever he could.

A visitation will begin at 12:00 noon Sunday, October 30, 2022, at St. James Catholic Church in St. Paul, where the family from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. that afternoon. A Christian wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church in St. Paul with Father Dan Dorau as celebrant.

Burial will be at St. James Cemetery in St. Paul.

A memorial has been established in his memory for St. James Catholic Church or Houghton Knights of Columbus.
