Man Arrested for Meth

On July 22, 2021, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a subject sitting in a vehicle slouched back and unresponsive at Stephenson Park in Lowell.  New London first responders arrived on the scene and the subject was out of the vehicle walking around and alert.  They requested Law Enforcement still respond due to the subject possibly being under the influence.

Henry County Deputies arrived and spoke with, Jason Schwartz 41 years of age.   Schwartz showed signs of being under the influence of methamphetamine.  The Henry County Sheriff’s Office narcotics canine performed a free air sniff around the parked vehicle belonging to Schwartz.  The canine indicated to Deputies there was an odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle was done. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were removed from the vehicle.

From this incident, Jason Schwartz was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine 1st Offense, a serious misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
