Mary Jane Kauffman, 81, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on March 14, 2022, at Addington Place.
Mary Jane was the daughter of Albert and Ruth (Hartman) Vaughan. She graduated from Burlington High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. In 1978, Mary Jane was united in marriage to James Christian Kauffman, in Mt. Union, Iowa. Mary Jane retired as a buyer with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. She was a long-time, active member of the Pleasant View Mennonite Church.
Mary Jane is survived by one daughter, Susan (Joe) Morales; a daughter-in-law, Valerie Canby (Paul Merkes); three stepdaughters, Peggy (Richard) Hootman, Lu Anne (Mike) Gruenke, and Lori (Tom Hughes) Horn; 10 grandchildren Tina Eddy, Mary Potter, Victoria Morales, JoJo Morales, Nick Canby, Andrea Canby, Christian Canby, Kealy Johnson, Ben Kelley, and Liz Gruenke; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother James, and a son William Vaughn Canby.
According to Mary Jane’s wishes, her body has been cremated and burial will be held at a later date in the North Hill Cemetery in Wayland.
