Michael “Mike” Noel, 74, of Mount Pleasant died on December 13 at his home in Mount Pleasant.
Mike Noel was born in Burlington, Iowa on January 3rd, 1948. He was the third son of Claude and Lucille (Floyd) Noel. Mike was raised in New London, Iowa and graduated from New London High School in 1966. In 1987, Mike married Ann Swink Beauchamp in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Mike served in the US Navy during the Vietnam war serving aboard the USS St. Paul. He was honorably discharged in December 1972. After returning to Mount Pleasant, Mike worked for Motorola Inc. and later for COBO International in Burlington, Iowa until his retirement in 2013.
He was a member of the VFW and the USS St. Paul Association. He was also a volunteer for the Midwest Old Threshers School tours. Mike attended the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. He was a devoted man of faith and loved his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Iowa State Cyclones. He was a master gardener and enjoyed woodworking, especially building model boats and ships. Mike and Ann enjoyed spending time at their lake retreat and when he was younger he loved to scuba dive. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Ann of Mount Pleasant, IA; sons Jeff (Susan) Noel, Lucas, IA. Michael (Melanie) Noel, Land O Lakes, Florida, Ryan (Amy) Noel, Milo, IA., Tag (Missy) Noel, Windsor Heights, IA., Tim (Rebecca) Beauchamp, Ankeny, IA., and daughter Kara Pernick, Correctionville, IA. Additionally, he is survived by sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren as well as two brothers, Chuck (Sara) Noel, Mount Pleasant and Tom (Linda) Noel of New London, IA and one sister-in-law Paula (Dave) Potter, Sedona AZ, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Lucille.
Per Mike’s wishes, his body will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. Pastor Steve English will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the Henry County Honor Guard. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held from 1:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to First Baptist Church, Help2Others, and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice. www.powellfuneralhomes.com
