The City of Mount Pleasant is beginning the process of hiring its next police chief as longtime Chief Lyle Murray prepares to retire September 11th.
The Mount Pleasant City Council will meet in special session Tuesday, August 4th, at 2 p.m. in the City Administrator’s Conference Room at City Hall.
The council will enter two separate closed sessions related to the hiring process. The closed sessions are permitted under Iowa law to evaluate the professional competency of individuals being considered for appointment or hiring and to review confidential records.
No official action will be taken during Tuesday’s meeting.
Chief Murray has served the Mount Pleasant community for many years. Additional information about his retirement and the search for his successor is expected as the process continues.
The council’s next regular meeting is Wednesday, August 12th, at 5:30 p.m.
