Karen Marshall, 65, of Farmington, Iowa, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022, at her home.

Born on October 31, 1956, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Naomi (Smith) Vance. On May 25, 1996, she married Jerry Marshall in Farmington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2016.

Survivors include her sons: Adam (Kim) Forquer of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Jeremy (Hayley) Marshall of Donnellson, Iowa, Eugene (Anna) Jones of Keokuk, Iowa; grandchildren: Gracie, Lucas, Beau and one on the way. Also surviving are two brothers: Robert (Julie) Vance of Farmington, Iowa, Bill (Linda) Vance of Bonaparte, Iowa and several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerry; and sister Amy Jones.

Karen retired from Senior Meals in Keosauqua as the site administrator. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, sewing, flowers, mushroom hunting and watching Jeremy race go-karts. She was a very sociable person and loved spending time with family and friends.

Her body has been entrusted to the crematory of Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Farmington United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Farmington United Methodist Church with Pastor Dawn Butler officiating.

Burial will be held at Greenglade Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her memory.

Ralph L. Hole, 43, died Friday, May 20, 2022 at his residence of apparent natural causes.

Donald H. Boldt, 86, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Sunrise Terrace in Winfield.

Don was born July 28, 1935, in Montpelier, Iowa, the son of Walter and Margaret (Woehrle) Boldt. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1954. The following year he enlisted into the Army and served for three years at the end of the Korean War. In 1969, Don was united in marriage to Wanda Norton Anderson. He worked as an office manager for the Martin Marietta Cement Plant in Buffalo, Iowa, store manager for Case Tractor, Ford New Holland and worked in sales for Strothman Harvestore. He was very proud to introduce the Case Uni-Loader to area farmers, which is a staple piece of machinery on many farms today. Don served as the mayor of Olds for three years and was instrumental in the construction of the reverse osmosis water tower. He was a member of the Olds American Legion, VFW, Moose Lodge, Big River Tractor Club and United Church of Christ. He served on the Henry County Fair Board for many years and taught a tractor safety course through FFA. Don had a passion for restoring antique tractors and would spend countless hours in the shop until they were just right. He drove Blockbuster Wood Splitters for Tim Batey. Don and Wanda loved to travel. They drove from Portland, Maine, to Portland, Oregon and as far north as the Artic Circle.

Don is survived by his wife Wanda; daughter Annette (Ray) Fischer of Franklin, Wisconsin; step daughter Penny (Jerry) Rauenbuehler of Mount Pleasant; son Todd Boldt of Camdenton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Gretchen Fischer, Ira (Lisa) Moffett, Lindsay (Justin) Tucker, Breanne (Nick) Juran, one great grandson, five great granddaughters; a sister Janet Portsmann of Blue Grass; and a brother Gerald (Bonnie) Boldt of Blue Grass.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Kevin Boldt, brother Robert and sister-in-law Betty Boldt, brother Harold Boldt, and brother-in-law Dick Portsmann.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to EveryStep Hospice and Sunrise Terrace for the excellent care they provided to Don.

A visitation will be held Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant with a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at a later date in the Forest Home Cemetery. Lois Brinkman, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Danville, died Friday, May 20, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.

Clara “Ella” Burns, 92, of Bonaparte passed away at 12:50 PM Friday May 20, 2022 at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.  Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.

Robert Francis Cochran, 91, of Argyle, Iowa, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health and Hospice Health Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

He was born on July 3, 1930, in Farmington, Iowa, the son of Archie Francis and Bertha (Pruett) Cochran. On June 15, 1958, he married Dorothea Ellen Parker at Hillsboro Christian Church.

Survivors include his four children: Bonita Cass of Bonaparte, Iowa, John (Angela) Cochran of Argyle, Iowa, Mary (David) Eid of Wever, Iowa, Thomas (Vicki) Cochran of Danville, Iowa; son-in-law: Derek Helmers of LaHarpe, Illinois, grandchildren: Darin (Cassie) Cass, Kayla (Mitch) Seager, Kara Eid, Kristin (Kyle) Pauley, Breanne Helmers, Rick (Sloan) Blumer, John Helmers, Amanda (Chris) Barry, Tyler Cochran, Katrina Cochran, Daniel Fritzjunker; great grandchildren: Taylor Seager, Kylie Seager, Madilyn Cass, Wyatt Cass, Lacie Barry, Aliyana Barry, Autumn Fritzjunker and baby Pauley on the way; brother: Ronald (Rovene) Cochran; two sisters: Lois Wixom and Twila (Delbert) Harper. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Archie and Bertha Cochran; wife: Dorothea; daughter: Dovetta Helmers; three sisters: Irma, Wilma and Norma Jean and half brother: Stanley Lyttle.

Bob served in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a mechanist and millwright. He was a member of Bethel Bible Church, the Farmington American Legion Richardson – Anthony Post #231, John Birch Society and Lee County Republican Committee. Bob and Dorothea enjoyed camping and traveling. Bob was a volunteer on the Des Moines Township fire department for several years where he had served as fire chief. He collected antique cars and antique memorabilia and worked in many trades throughout his life.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 23, 2022, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that evening.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Aaron Hand  and Pastor Mike Shea officiating.

Honors will be presented, following the service, by the Southeast Iowa Regional Fire Honor Guard and the Farmington American Legion.

Following the service, cremation will take place with burial being held at a later date at the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington, Iowa.

Memorials have been established in his memory for the Des Moines Township Fire & Rescue or Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health and Hospice.
