It wasn’t until the second half that the offense for the Tigers was able to strike, as Baylee Alvarado scored in the 55th minute off an assist by Desire’ Adams. The second goal would be one Coe College would like to have back as they headed the ball into their own net off a corner kick in the 77th minute. Kylie Mulhern-Guillier had two saves in the net for the Tigers. Their next game will be October 4th as they travel to clash with the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy Eutectics at 4 pm, as they look to extend their win streak to three games.

Derek Zander, the Vice-President of Advancement and Athletics, joined us on Tiger Nation this morning and gave a glimpse into his favorite part of the job:

“Is walking down the front row of the bleachers and talking to students. The fact that at a lot of universities the athletic director can kind of be seen as maybe intimidating, unapproachable, and kids may not have the access to him or her and, for me, having that relationship with the kids, getting to know them on a personal basis. Having tough conversations with them in my office about maybe some accountability things that we are struggling with, with him or her, some issues that we are having and then trying to serve as that middle person between them and their coach to help facilitate conversations I think that’s important. So, again the relationships with the kids.”

You can listen to Tiger Nation every Thursday during the school year at 9 am or on our SoundCloud, KILJ Radio, after they air on the radio.
