Prep Boys’ Basketball: Mount Pleasant’s Late Rally Falls Short; Other Area Matchups

Cedar Rapids — Owen Vansickel scored all 16 points in the second half but the furious Mount Pleasant rally came up short as the Panthers fell to Cedar Rapids Washington 72-59 last night in a nonconference matchup.

Mount Pleasant, trailing by as much as 26 in the third quarter, trimmed the deficit to just nine in the fourth quarter before running out of steam.

Dewon Trent finished with 14 points and 11 boards, while Payton Hagans and Aiden Ashton each chipped in with 11.

The Warriors led 37-14 at the break behind 17 points from star guard Trajain Sain.

Mount Pleasant fell to 2-3 with the loss.

They’ll get back on the hardwood Friday night on the road at No. 5 Washington.

The Demons are 4-0 on the year.
