Sandra Louise Harris, 83, of Burlington, died Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Klein Center in West Burlington. She was born in Camden, Illinois on October 23, 1942 to George Kenneth and Voneta Lucille Unger Anderson. She first married Myron Taylor. Then on January 18, 1986 she married (Joe) Tony Harris at their home in Burlington. He died September 30, 2015.
Sandra was of the Methodist faith. Following high school, she earned her Master’s in Public Health at Iowa Wesleyan College and spent her career in nursing for more than thirty years, retiring in 2002.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and embroidery but her greatest joy was the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sandra is survived by her children, Myra Bruegger of Urbandale, Melinda Taylor of Coralville, and Mitchell Taylor of Burlington; six grandchildren, Jesse Dodge, Ellen Phelan, Jenna Scott, Griffin Geick, and Cassi and Izzi Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Lucy and Patrick Phelan, Cameron Geick, and Shae Scott; and her sister-in-law Marion Anderson of Rushville, Illinois. Besides her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister Betty Widener and brother Glen Anderson.
According to her wishes, her body has been cremated and a private family inurnment for Sandra and Tony will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, Burlington. Elliott Chapel, New London, is assisting the family and online condolences may be left at www.elliottfuneralchapel.com.
