Sharon Lynne Cox

Sharon Lynne Cox, 77, of Keosauqua, passed away Monday, July 27, 2026 at her home.

A celebration of life will be held 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Sharon’s home, 19142 Labrador Dr, Roberts Park, Keosauqua, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roberts Park, Inc. Attn: Mindy Ferrel, 1656 Hemlock Ave. Fairfield, Iowa 52556. Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is caring for Sharon and her family.

Sharon was born May 13, 1949 in Memphis, Missouri, the daughter of Robert and Marilyn (Drake) Schlotter. She was a 1967 graduate of Memphis High School and attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri. Sharon married Robert Cox, March 13, 1976. He preceded her in death March 15, 2017.

Sharon and Robert lived in Omaha, Nebraska, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Des Moines, Iowa before retiring to the banks of the Des Moines River in Keosauqua.

Sharon retired from MidAmerican Energy after working in a career she truly loved. She was a system operator for OPPD before moving to Des Moines as an energy trader for MidAmerican Energy. Her greatest achievement was receiving the Outstanding Dispatcher Service Award, the first woman to receive since its inception in 1945.

Sharon was someone everyone could talk to and be themselves. She was the best friend, mother, daughter, and grandma. There has truly never been a more giving, loving, and caring human being to walk this earth.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Eric (Deb) Cox; grandchildren, Justin (Pam) Smith, Julie Wesley, Jason Wesley, and Nick Buchan; great-grandchildren, Blake and Sydney Smith; and many more family and friends whose life she has touched.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dianne “Dee Dee” Eggleston; grandmother, Mary Drake; and great aunt, Bernice Peacock, all of whom she cared for in their final years.
