Sondra Ann Dick

Sondra Ann Dick, 82, of Douds passed away at 2:45PM on Thursday March 17, 2022 at the Southeast Iowa Medical Center in West Burlington. Visitation with family present will be from 10 to 11AM Saturday March 26, 2022 at Christ United Methodist Church prior to the service. Funeral services will be on March 26, 2022 at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds with Pastor Phil Campbell and Tim Sprouse officiating.  Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds immediately following the service.  Memorials to Zion Lutheran Cemetery may be left at the church or mailed to the family at P.O. Sondra was born April 5, 1939 in Van Buren County to Cyrus Hugh and Alta Geneva Cooper Greenfield.  She grew up on the family farm near Douds with her five brothers and graduated from Douds High School in 1957 and loved to play basketball and went with her high school team to state.  Sondra spent all her adult life in and around the Douds area. She married Keith E. Smith on February 8, 1958 at the Christ United Methodist Church. He died July 19, 2002.  She then married James Dick on May 30, 2009 in the Zion Bible Church near Douds.  Sondra was a stay-at-home mother during her children’s early years and when they were old enough, she decided to take a job at Barker’s Mercantile as a clerk and stayed there for many years.  She then worked for a while at Fairfield Glove Factory and Barkers in Keosauqua until her retirement when Keith became ill and needed her help at home. Sondra loved to stay busy working outside and was an avid gardener.  She was a loving caring and dedicated wife, mother, grand-mother and friend.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband James of Douds, a son Brian Smith (Beth) of Libertyville, a daughter, Joan Davis (Glen) of Peachtree City, GA, two brothers Dwain Greenfield (Lyn) of Douds and William Greenfield of Davenport, two step-children, Darla Melcher (Allen) of Libertyville and Doug Dick (Rachel) of Douds, six grand-children, Aaron Muntz of Unionville, MO, Keith Smith (Alicia) of Unionville, MO, Corie Smith of Libertyville, Miles Aldrich of Camdenton, MO, Mason Aldrich (Alexandra) of Jacksonville, FL and Parker Davis of Peachtree City, GA, three great-grandchildren, Reagan Smith, Tate Smith and Knight Aldrich, several step grand and great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Keith, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, James and Michael Greenfield and a sister in infancy, Cynthia Greenfield.
