Mt. Pleasant Track and Field
The Panthers held their banquet yesterday and after a successful season handed out their annual team awards.
On the girls’ side, Mt. Pleasant had a spectacular year as they hoisted the runner-up trophy at the State Indoor Meet to start the season, defended their conference title, and accrued 27 points at the state meet to finish in 12th place.
Avery Fedler was one of the main reasons for those accolades as the freshman collected school records in the 400-meter dash, the 800-meter run, the 1500-meter run, and the sprint medley relay, along with Kynlee White, Alex Scott, and Delaney Anderson. Overall, she was the Leading Scorer and Co-Rookie of the Year. Joining her in Rookie of the Year honors was Anderson.
Another freshman for Mt. Pleasant, Anderson also reshaped the program record book, as she set the school mark in the 4×100 meter relay with the team of White, Scott, and Taylor Williamson.
Quintrie Lee was able to punch her ticket to the state meet for the 3000-meter run, where she finished in 19th place. Lee was named most improved. White finished her Panther career with multiple school records and with the Panther Award, while Elodie Rawson earned Most Potential.
On the boys’ side, Kayle Brown had himself an impressive freshman campaign, as the Panther was able to qualify for two events at the state meet: the shuttle hurdle relay and the long jump, which included a 9th place finish in the latter. Brown was named Rookie of the Year.
Silas Hulett took home Leading Scorer with a conference championship in the 3200-meter run and a dual state qualification for the long distance events. Griffen Jones took home the Panther Award, Franky Lopez earned the Most Potential, and Hoang Quang, who also qualified for the state long jump, claimed Most Improved.
