High School Baseball
Danville surrendered nine runs in the opening frame to Van Buren County, eventually falling 16-6 last night. Eight players registered an RBI for the Warriors with Will Cocherell leading the team with four. Lucas Fett tabbed eight strikeouts in the win.
Van Buren County will travel to Lone Tree tonight at 5:30 pm.
Winfield-Mt. Union will square off against Danville tonight at 5:30 pm at home.
Burlington Notre Dame snapped New London’s three-game winning streak last night with a 15-0 shutout. Cale Westerbeck nabbed the lone hit for the Tigers. Dylan Kipp and Landry Haberichter each smacked grand slams for the Nikes as Haberichter totaled six RBIs in the win.
New London will take on Hillcrest Academy today on the road.
Burlington Notre Dame will square off against Highland tonight at 5:30 pm on the road.
West Burlington will play Louisa-Muscatine tonight on the road at 5:30 pm.
Mediapolis will hit the road to face off against Pekin tonight at 5:30 pm.
Central Lee will take on Wapello tonight at 5:30 pm on the road.
Mt. Pleasant will host Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont tonight at 7:30 pm. Head coach Brent Broeker talked about the team’s two upcoming matchups,
“We Got Zach and Hagans will be able to come back. Couldn’t use them tonight as a pitch count, but so we’ll have those two guys ready, you know? But we got Eddyville on Wednesday first, you know. So, we’ll look at that game first and then we’ll concentrate on trying to get Burlington and get that two out of three from them so we can stay ahead of the conference.”
Fairfield and Washington will finish their series tomorrow, June 13th, at 7:30 pm in Fairfield.
High School Softball
Danville lost to Van Buren County last night 12-0 after the Warriors poured on eight runs in the fourth inning. Callie Kracht slugged a double and led the team with three RBIs. The Warriors will travel to Lone Tree tonight at 7 pm.

West Burlington’s offense smacked Holy Trinity Catholic last night 12-0. Logan Kelley, Lacie Felins, Madalynn Knapp, and Anna Engberg each earned a pair of RBIs in the winning effort. The Falcons will compete against Louisa-Muscatine tonight at 7 pm on the road.
Holy Trinity Catholic will host Central Lee tomorrow, June 13th, at 5:30 pm.
Central Lee handled Mediapolis last night 8-2. Maycie Thomburg finished with the only RBI for the Bulldogs. The Hawks will travel to Wapello tonight at 5:30 pm.

WACO fell to Louisa-Muscatine last night 16-0. The Warriors will compete against Wapello tomorrow at 5:30 pm at home.

Prospect League
The Burlington Bees were stung by the long ball last night in a 9-5 loss to the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp. Scotty Savage smacked a double and tabbed an RBI for the Bees.
The Clinton LumberKings fell to the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes 8-6 last night. The LumberKings will host the Bees tonight in a doubleheader with game one at 5 pm.
Prospect League Player of the Week
Clintons’ Jimmy Burke was honored with the week 2 ArmCare.com Pitcher of the Week award yesterday for his shutout win against the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes. Burke pitched six innings, allowing only two hits and influencing eight three-strike whiffs.
Burke currently touts a 2-0 record for the season, having allowed only one run on six hits in 12 innings of work. His 14 strikeouts are tied for 8th in the league and his 0.75 ERA has him positioned for 3rd best in the league.
