High School Baseball
Thunderstorms rolled through southeast Iowa last night causing most of our local games to be rained out.
Winfield-Mt. Union and Hillcrest Academy were able to play their game last night, however, as the Ravens defeated the Wolves 12-5. Micah Gerber, Mason Bender, Rowan Miller, and Phoenix Anderson each tabbed two RBIs for the Ravens. Winfield-Mt. Union will host Lone Tree tonight for a doubleheader with game one at 5:30 pm.
Burlington Notre Dame will make the trip to Van Buren County tonight at 5:30 pm.
Danville will face off against West Burlington on Tuesday, June 18th, at 5:30 pm on the road.
Mediapolis will take on New London tonight at 5:30 pm on the road.
Central Lee will face off against West Burlington tonight at 5:30 pm at home.
Mt. Pleasant had their road contest against Burlington rained out last night. The Panthers will travel to Fairfield on Monday, June 17th, for a doubleheader with game one at 5:30 pm.
Fairfield will host Central DeWitt tonight for a doubleheader with game one at 5:30 pm.
High School Softball
WACO fell to Wapello last night 12-0. The Warriors will travel to Highland tonight with game one at 5:30 pm.
Winfield-Mt. Union traveled north to Mount Mercy University to face off against Hillcrest Academy and a late rally by the Wolves ended short of the win, 10-7 in favor of the Ravens. Quin Smith picked up three RBIs as she slapped an inside-the-park home run. The Wolves will host a doubleheader against Lone Tree tonight with game one at 5:30 pm.
Danville will compete against Holy Trinity Catholic tonight at home with first pitch at 7 pm.
Central Lee will take on West Burlington tonight at 7 pm at home.
New London will face off against Mediapolis tonight at home with first pitch at 7 pm.
Van Buren County will host Hillcrest Academy on Monday, June 17th, at 7 pm.
Fairfield and West Burlington will compete in a tournament tomorrow, June 15th, at Oskaloosa.
Mt. Pleasant will compete in a tournament at Wapello tomorrow.
High School Cross Country
Mt. Pleasant will be starting their optional summer runs on Monday, June 17th. The runs are a great way to get in shape and to run with others. The runs are available for 7th through 12th graders and will often be led by upperclassmen as coaches may not be present for every run.
On Mondays and Wednesdays the runs will start at 6:30 am at the Old Threshers Museum Theatre and on Tuesdays and Thursdays they will be at Saunders Park by the swimming pool at 7 pm.

Prospect League
The Burlington Bees hit the road last night to face off against the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp but rain halted the game in the 5th inning with the Bees leading 11-10 with a runner on third base and two outs in the inning. Reese Moore clubbed a triple and tallied two RBIs along with Merrick Mathews. The game will be finished on June 19th.
The Bees will host the Pistol Shrimp tonight at 6:30 pm.
The Clinton LumberKings exploded for five runs in the 5th inning to defeat the Lafayette Aviators 7-5. Clay Jacobs finished with a double and three RBIs in the win. The two will have a rematch tonight at 6:30 pm in Clinton.
