Boys’ Prep Basketball: Demons Escape with Win:

Washington 56, Mount Pleasant 45

Washington’s Ethan Patterson scored 18 points to lead the No. 4 (3A) Demons to a 56-45 win over Mount Pleasant last night in a hotly contested Southeast Conference showdown.

Washington used an 8-0 run to take a 39-32 lead and never looked back.

Kasen Bailey finished with 13 points for the Demons including the proverbial dagger for the Demons from three.

Payton Hagans had 13 to lead Mount Pleasant.

The Panthers get Central Lee today in a girl-boy doubleheader.

Washington improved to 13-1.

Girls’ Prep Basketball: Mount Pleasant Wins Against Washington:

Mount Pleasant 48, Washington 37 

Mount Pleasant used 17-6 run in the second quarter as the Panthers earned a 48-37 win over Washington last night.

Andrea Lopreato scored 21 points to lead Mount Pleasant.

Alex Murphy had 11 for the Demons.

Mount Pleasant is now 7-8.

Washington slumped to 1-13.

College Basketball: Wesleyan Women Roll Past Wilberforce:

Brittany West pumped in 27 points to lead the Iowa Wesleyan women to a 68-56 victory over Wilberforce last night.

Breanna Wendland chipped in with 12 while Kyla Moore added 11.

West and Moore both played the entirety of the game.

The win moved Wesleyan to 11-4 and 3-0 in conference play.

The Tigers will play once more in the Ruble Arena this weekend as they take on the Fightin’ Indians of Haskell Indian Nations University today at 5:00 p.m.

College Basketball: Wesleyan Men Bested:

A ten-point first half lead guided Wilberforce to a 72-60 win over the Wesleyan men last night.

Carver Locke had 13 points and six rebounds to pace the Tigers while former New London prep Alex Dentlinger had eight points.

Grant Swanson, also a former New London Tiger, had 11 points and eight rebounds off the Wesleyan bench.

Now 7-13, the Tigers will take on Haskell Indians Nations University today for their second game of the CAC Classic at Ruble Arena.

The game is set to start at 6 p.m.
