A familiar name to the KILJ airwaves now carries a county title. Hailey Pedrick of Pekin has been crowned the 2026 Jefferson County Fair Queen. Now that Hailey has been crowned, she becomes eligible to represent her county at the Iowa State Fair Queen Competition.
County queens are invited to Des Moines beginning Tuesday, August 4, 2026, and remain through the Queen Coronation on Saturday, August 8th, during which they are guests of the Iowa State Fair. Throughout the week, contestants participate in Individual interviews with judges, Group activities and leadership events, and Rehearsals leading up to the coronation ceremony.
The competition is not a traditional beauty pageant. Judges evaluate contestants on Personality, Leadership, Citizenship, and community involvement.
