Records Fall for the Mt. Pleasant Middle School 8th Grade Girls’ Track and Field Team at State Meet

Ankeny, IA- The Mt. Pleasant Middle School 8th grade girls’ track and field team has been breaking records all season and it has gotten to the point where they have to break their own records. At least, that’s what Hailey Schadt resorted to at the Mike Henderson Middle School State Track and Field Meet this past weekend.

The Panthers brought a couple of competitors west to the state meet and accumulated 38 points, which landed them just outside of the top four.

Schadt had a full day, gathering a trio of gold medals and a silver to decorate the mantle. Schadt partook in two relays that finished with a gold medal. With Peyton Duplessis, Millie Wellington, and Kya Heaton, the Panthers notched a season best time of 1 minute and 56 seconds to win the sprint medley and broke the school record in the 4×100 meter relay with a time of 52.67 seconds.

Wellington also finished inside the top 10 for the hurdles with a 9th place time of 17.05 seconds.

“The girls had a great experience,” said head coach Julie Gilmore. “And will definitely add to an already talented high school team next year!”
