High School Girls’ Tennis
Fairfield will hit the road to play Keokuk tomorrow, August 27th, at 4:30 pm.
Burlington Notre Dame will travel to Camanche tomorrow at 4 pm.
Mt. Pleasant will compete against Burlington on Monday, August 31st, at 4:30 pm.
High School Volleyball
WACO will travel to Fairfield tomorrow, August 27th, for the “Steven Hisel” triangular at 5:45 pm.
Central Lee will travel to Fort Madison tomorrow at 7 pm.
Burlington will host a quad tomorrow with West Burlington, Wapello, and Danville competing at 5:30 pm.
Winfield-Mt. Union will participate in the Albia Invitational on Saturday, August 29th.
High School Football
Danville kicks off the season on Friday, August 28th, at home against West Burlington/Notre Dame at 7 pm.
Mediapolis awaits Mt. Pleasant on Friday with gametime at 7:30 pm. KILJ 105.5 FM, kilj.com, will be on the call with the pregame show at 7:15 pm. Bulldogs head coach Brian Borrison discussed the lessons his team took away from last year,
“I would think that to keep trusting the process, uh, you know, we were one in started one and two last year, uh, and then you know, it would have been real easy to kind of get down in the dumps. Then we won a game against West Burlington that kind of helped propel us. But even that like the whole season, there were some ups and downs in there.There were games we played well and games we didn’t play so well but that crew really kept trusting the process and I thought, you know, for us to go into Centerville last year and to win a playoff game against a ranked team on the road in the first round really kind of showed like listen, you just got to keep trusting the process. Keep working on getting better and then you know, you know every Friday night’s an opportunity to make something special happen and we were able to you know, definitely able to do that and it’s a good lesson for everybody I think to kind of stay patient with it and stay focused on what you need to do.”

Washington will take on Mid-Prairie at home at 7:30 pm on Friday.
Central Lee will travel to Van Buren County on Friday with gametime at 7 pm.
Wapello will start their season with a home matchup on Friday against Louisa-Muscatine at 7 pm.
Columbus will head to BGM on Friday at 7 pm.
Winfield-Mt. Union will welcome Easton Valley to town on Friday at 7 pm.
WACO begins the year at home with a matchup against Central City at 7 pm on Friday. Despite having only three juniors on the roster, Warriors head coach Chad Edeker talked about how numbers are not an issue,
“I feel real lucky in the fact that we have about 14 and 14 in terms of 14 upperclassmen and 14 underclassmen and You know, we can keep those as two separate teams and and we go back and forth we have a couple juniors that might play down on the JV and we have some sophomores that might play up on the varsity, but, you know I think our numbers are really good in the point where we can get to full solid teams and then get a lot of work in practice with both teams and continue to improve.”
High School Cross Country
Danville will run at the Iowa City West Early Bird meet tomorrow, August 27th.
Van Buren County will compete in Albia tomorrow.
High School Bowling
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released their bowling memo yesterday for the 2026-27 girls’ bowling season and here’s some of the main changes. Boys’ and girls’ bowling are no longer joint sports and will now have separate advisory committees; though, rules meetings will continue to be jointly attended.
The girls’ state team tournaments will now take place in the morning, while the individual tournaments will move to the afternoon. Baker games have been decreased from 15 to 12 for the state qualifying and state meets; additionally, there will no longer be a consolation bracket round in the State Team competition. Lastly, for the state individual tournament, after the qualifying rounds, the eight finalists will be bracketed and compete in a best two-out-of-three format, meaning bowlers will now be able to bowl more than six games in a day.
Southeastern Community College
The volleyball team will play Iowa Lakes Community College tonight at 6 pm on the road.
The men’s soccer team will travel to Southwestern Illinois College today at 2:30 pm.
The women’s soccer team will take on Lincoln Trail College at 4 pm on Saturday, August 29th, at home.
