A juvenile female is in critical condition after an unintentional shooting Sunday evening in Jefferson County.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a 911 call at 7:56 p.m. from the 2500 block of Douds Road south of Libertyville regarding a juvenile female who had suffered a gunshot wound. Deputies and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene shortly after 8 p.m. and began treatment.
Authorities say the juvenile was later airlifted by Medforce to the University of Iowa Hospital in critical condition.
The incident remains under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. No additional details about the juvenile have been released at this time.
