Robert “Bob” Harper, 92, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025. He was born May 12, 1933, in New London, Iowa to Bert and Cleo McClure Harper and welcomed home by a sister, Dolores Ann Harper. He attended New London schools where he was very active in many sports and became an Eagle Scout. He married Rose Dickey Harper in 1952 and they had three daughters.
Bob worked at Harper’s grocery store in New London for many years making home deliveries. He was also a locksmith, along with being a great artist and painter with many of his works on storefronts and commercial trucks. His interest in computers led him to a job with the phone company. This job led him to Wentzville, Missouri and eventually to Tampa, Florida. He was preceeded in death by his parents and his sister Dolores Harper Bell. Survivors include three daughters, Sherry Harper Salas, Kathy (David) Cacciatore, and Julie (Robert) Harper-Smith; four granddaughters; one grandson; two great granddaughters; two great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. July 29, 2026 at Burge Cemetery, New London.
