On May 17 at approximately 2:30p.m. deputies with the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 411 North St. in Mediapolis. The search warrant was part of an ongoing burglary investigation after it was reported that several Mediapolis businesses were broken into during the previous weekend. During the search several stolen items were located and identified as coming from McLaughlin’s Freight Services located at 602 Main St. and 604 Main St. in Mediapolis. As a result, Tyler Allen Johnson, age 30, of Mediapolis, IA was charged with two additional counts of Burglary 3rd Degree. Johnson had previously been charged in connection with the burglary of two other Mediapolis businesses.
Also, while executing the search warrant, deputies found Jacob Scott Johnson, age 29, of Mediapolis and Samantha Jo Russell, age 32, of Wapello at the residence at 411 North Street. There was an active no-contact order between the two parties with Russell listed as the protected party. It was determined that Jacob Johnson was in violation of the order and Russell was knowingly violating the court order. Both parties were placed under arrest and transported to the Des Moines County Jail. Jacob Johnson was charged with Violation of No Contact Order and held on no bond. Samantha Russell was charged with Aiding and Abetting a Violation of No Contact Order and was cited and released at the jail.
