Henry County property owners are being reminded that a delay in receiving property tax statements does not change the payment deadline.
A statewide software issue has delayed the preparation and mailing of property tax statements in Henry County and other counties across Iowa. The delay is connected to updates required for the Solutions software used by county offices to prepare and print the statements.
However, Henry County Treasurer Kellie Sloan stresses that property taxes are delayed in the mail—not canceled or postponed.
The first-half property tax installment is still due September 1. Payments may be made without penalty through September 30, but any unpaid balance becomes delinquent October 1, and penalties will begin accruing as required by Iowa law.
Property owners should not wait for their statement to arrive before making a payment or checking their balance. Anyone who has not received a statement or needs information about the amount owed should contact the Henry County Treasurer’s Office.
Again, property taxes remain due September 1, and delinquency takes effect October 1 with penalties.
