Prep Softball: Mount Pleasant Falls, Winfield-Mount Union Stunned

No. 13 Fairfield 12, Mount Pleasant 0 

Fairfield’s Coty Engle tossed a shortened game no-hitter as Fairfield cruised to a 12-0 win over Mount Pleasant last night.

Engle allowed just one baserunner as the Trojans jumped out to an early lead.

The game was finished in three innings.

Ella McNamee suffered the loss for the Panthers.

Mount Pleasant dropped to 1-25.

Columbus 2, No. 13 Winfield-Mount Union 1 

Columbus came from behind late to stun Class 1A’s No. 13 Winfield-Mount Union 2-1, yesterday in a Super Conference clash at Winfield.

Lela Fort came up with the clutch two RBI double to give the Wildcats the lead.

Lily Coil had two hits, a stolen base and was the winning pitcher.

Winfield ace Madie Anderson struck out 16 hitters over seven innings, yielding six hits.

The Lady Wolves mustered just three hits, all singles.

Winfield stumbled to 14-4.

Columbus improved to 10-14.
