Prep Softball: W-MU Wins, Mount Pleasant Falls, Other Finals

No. 13 (1A) Winfield-Mount Union 6, Hillcrest Academy 0 

Winfield-Mount Union got back in the win column with a 6-0 win over Hillcrest Academy yesterday.

Madie Anderson was the winning pitcher for the Lady Wolves, tossing a complete game allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out 13.

Anna Anderson had two hits and two runs batted in while Melina Oepping also drove in two.

The win moved Winfield-Mount Union to 15-5.

No. 10 (4A) Fairfield 12, Mount Pleasant 0 

The 10th ranked Trojans scored early and often, putting four on the board in the 1st and seven in the 3rd, as they cruised to a 12-0 win over Mount Pleasant last night.

Coty Engle fired a one-hit shutout over three frames to earn the win.

She struck out five and walked two.

Madison Helling suffered the loss, allowing eight runs over two innings.

Ella McNamee pitched one inning and allowed four hits and four runs.

Eva Rounceville had the Panthers’ lone hit.

Fairfield moved to 17-11.

Mount Pleasant stumbled to 1-28.

New London 15, Hillcrest Academy 1 

Before taking on Winfield-Mount Union, Hillcrest Academy took one on the chin against New London, falling 15-1 to the Tigers.

Elly Manning had four hits, three runs scored and three RBI as New London rolled.

Ashlyn McSorely added two hits and four runs batted in.

A seven-run 3rd inning opened things up for New London.

Elly Manning hurled a four inning complete game, striking out three.

New London improved to 6-20.

Hillcrest Academy stayed winless at 0-20.
