College Football: A Dream Realized — Winfield’s Buffington Officially Commits to Iowa:

Iowa City — Winfield-Mount Union rising sophomore Cam Buffington has officially committed to play football for the University of Iowa, he announced yesterday.

Buffington recently took a visit that cemented his commitment, fulfilling a life long dream to suit up for the Hawkeyes.

In his freshman season, Buffington finished with 50.5 tackles and one interception on defense while accounting for 1,029 total yards and 19 touchdowns on offense for the Wolves.

Buffington’s teriffic first year continued on the basketball court, where he averaged 17.2 points per game for Winfield.

He also qualified for state track, competing in the 1A long jump.

The 6’3, 200-pounder is expected to play linebacker for the Hawkeyes.

He’s the second commit for Iowa in the Class of 2024, joining East Buchanan offensive lineman Cody Fox.
