Hy-Vee Expands E-Commerce Offerings with New Ship-to-Home Services

Hy-VeeDeals.com and ShopPetShip.com will bring Hy-Vee offerings to all 50 states

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (Dec. 22, 2021) — Hy-Vee, Inc. announces the launch of two websites with ship-tohome services: Hy-VeeDeals.com and ShopPetship.com. The two websites will make a variety of bulk grocery
products, home goods and pet supplies available to shoppers throughout the United States.
Hy-VeeDeals.com, the company’s existing website that aggregates all weekly ads, digital coupons and hot deals,
now also features bulk products that can be shipped directly to customers. Customers can order their favorite
snacks to fill the pantry, as well as household essentials, cleaning products and housewares. Customers can also
purchase household staples in bulk, saving time and money. Additionally, in-store shoppers will be able to take
advantage of bulk savings offered through Hy-VeeDeals.com with a QR code displayed on store shelves.
ShopPetShip.com offers a wide variety of food, treats and supplies for many pets. Customers can also take
advantage of subscription services to have pet supplies shipped directly to their homes, providing added
convenience and time savings and eliminating manual reordering.

 Infrastructure Law Lands $24.5M for Iowa Airports in 2022

Grant allocations will continue for five years

 

BUTLER COUNTY, IOWA – Iowa airports will receive at least $24.5 million in federal infrastructure grant funds next year, thanks to the bipartisan infrastructure law that was passed earlier this year.

The Airport Infrastructure Grants program, established under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, allocates $24,547,901 to Iowa airports of all sizes each year for the next five years. The money can be invested in runway and taxiway projects as well as terminal and airport roadway upgrades.

The Mount Pleasant Municipal Airport is eligible to receive $159,000.

Billy George Marshall, Sr.

Billy George Marshall, Sr., 93, of Wapello, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Wapello Specialty Care.  Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m. on  Monday, December 27, 2021 at the Wapello Cemetery.  A luncheon will follow at the Wapello United Methodist Church.  Memorials have been established for the Wapello United Methodist Church, Wapello Fire Department or the Wapello Ambulance.  Sympathy messages can be left for the family at www.sandfuneralservice.com.  Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Wapello is caring for the family.

 

Billy George Marshall was born on March 6, 1928 in Wapello, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Lillian (Vollmer) Marshall.  Billy George was a 1946 graduate of Wapello High School.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and continued his career in the Military for over 20 years.  On April 1, 1950, Billy George was united in marriage to Wanda Lou Lihs in Grand Junction, Kansas.  Upon his return to Wapello, Billy George served as a police officer; worked alongside his wife, Wanda at the Hyway Pantry, Colonial Daycare, Dairy Bar, Laundromat and the NAPA Store, before at last retiring from the Wapello Elementary where he worked as a custodian for many years.   Billy George loved tinkering on small engines and will always be remembered for mowing his yard with a cigar in hand.

 

Billy George will be deeply missed by his children, Diana (Dave) Foor of Florida, Debbie Hollingsworth of Wapello and Billy George (Cindy) Marshall Jr. of Wapello; ten grandchildren, Lisa, Kristy, Billy, Luke, Lynn (Darin), Les (Lindsay), Laura (BJ), Jason (Kristen), Aaron (Valerie) and Brian (Brigette); 17 great-grandchildren who are local to the area and two great-great grandchildren.

 

Billy George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda in 2008; son-in-law, Don Hollingsworth; brothers, Bob, Keith and Gene and infant sister.

Dorothy Irene Crume

Dorothy Irene Crume, 99, of Donnellson, Iowa, passed away at 9:23 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2021, at the West Point Care Center.

She was born on September 8, 1922 in Donnellson, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel and Anna (Baumann) Schlicher. On January 1, 1941, she married Herold Bedell Crume in Canton, Missouri. They enjoyed traveling and shared their love of dogs.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of sixty-five years: Herold; three brothers: Robert Schlicher, Richard Schlicher and David Schlicher and one sister: Agnes Wagner.

Dorothy enjoyed watching various sports, reading and visits with her family. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews.

Her body has been entrusted to the crematory of Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Burial will be at Evangelical Cemetery in Donnellson.

A memorial has been established in her memory for St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and can be mailed to the family at: Schmitz Funeral Home, P.O. Box 56, Donnellson, Iowa 52625.

Dean VanTrump

Dean VanTrump, 89 of Mount Pleasant passed away peacefully on Sunday December 19, 2021, at Park Place Elder Living with his loving family by his side.

Dean was born May 15, 1932 in Salem, Iowa, the son of Alva and Bernice (Hoggatt) VanTrump.  He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1950 and from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1957.  On June 9, 1957, Dean was united in marriage to Ruth Scarff.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.    They made their home in the Mount Pleasant community.  Dean worked for Brown Shoe Fit, Sears and Roebuck, and Williams Clothing.  He then owned and operated VanTrump Clothing for 10 years, retiring in 1997.  Family was very important to Dean and he never missed an opportunity to spend time together.

Dean is survived by his sons: Matthew (Heather) VanTrump of Iowa City; Mike (Nancy) Van Trump of Fort Madison; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Belau of Denver, Colorado.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Ruth.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Henry County Hospital, Park Place Elder Living and EveryStep Hospice for the wonderful loving care they gave to Dean.

According to his wishes his body has been cremated and there will be no services.  Memorials may be given to the donor’s favorite charity in memory of Dean.  The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel is caring for Dean and his family.   www.powellfuneralhomes.com

Two Vehicle Accident in Mount Pleasant

On Saturday at about 5:30 pm the Mount Pleasant Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 100 block of West Washington Street. Upon investigation, it was determined that a Jeep operated by Rosita De La Rosa of Mount Pleasant, was traveling south in the 100 block of South Jefferson Street. She made an improper left-hand turn to travel east on Washington Street. While turning, her vehicle struck a vehicle operated by Justin Morgan of Mount Pleasant which was stopped at the stop light on West Washington Street at the intersection of Jefferson Street. The De La Rosa vehicle struck the front driver side bumper of Morgan vehicle.  As a result of this investigation, Morgan was charged with driving while barred.

Deb Crouch

Deb Crouch, 65, of New London, died Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 30, 1956 in Parnell, Iowa to Wayne and Marjorie Suppel Gingerich. She was a 1974 graduate of Williamsburg High School and graduated from Kirkwood Community College. On September 18, 1976, she married Jerry Crouch in Holbrook, Iowa.
Deb worked in production at Motorola until it’s closing, then graduated from Southeastern Community College with a Graphic Design degree. She then worked as a graphic ad designer for the Mt. Pleasant News. She was of the Catholic faith; was a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader and on the Boy Scout District Committee; served on the New London little league board; was head of Red Caboose Gift Shop at Midwest Central Railroad; and she enjoyed reading romance novels on her Kindle and doing cross stitch.
Survivors include her husband of New London; two sons, Joe of New London and Josh of Albany, Georgia; brothers Mike Gingerich of Riverside and Mark (Lynn) Gingerich of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and one sister Susie (Terry) Jones of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Scott.
According to her wishes, her body has been cremated and inurnment will be held at a later date. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant with Father Paul Connolly officiating. Visitation will begin at noon on Monday at Elliott Chapel, New London with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
