Although children are at a lower risk of becoming severely ill with COVID-19 compared with adults, children can still be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, get very sick, have both short and long-term health complications from COVID-19, and spread COVID-19 to others. Children age 5-11 will receive the pediatric dose. All children will need a second shot three weeks after their first shot. Help protect your whole family and slow the spread of COVID-19 in your community by getting yourself and your children ages 5 years and older vaccinated against COVID-19.

Andermann New Salem Mayor

A tie forced the Henry County Supervisors to select the winner in the Salem mayoral race.  Both Kelly Andermann and James Tomson received 40 votes.  Tuesday morning, as part of the official canvass of the votes from the November 2 election the supervisors drew Andermann’s name from a hat, a hard hat to be specific.

Otherwise, the canvass did not reveal any issues with the results of the elections.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and seamstress. If anyone had a piece of clothing that needed altering or made from scratch, she was the woman to call, grabbing her sewing machine and getting to work. She was extremely creative making gifts for her family and cooking amazing food, especially her homemade noodles.Like all mothers and grandmothers she enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She also enjoyed playing Euchre and Back Alley Bridge with her card club and of course drinking several cups of Folgers instant coffee a day.

Later in life she discovered quilting, allowing her to create several special friendships with fellow quilters and making a quilt for all of her kids and grandkids. After living in the country for years, she moved into town in Houghton in 2016 making her new house feel like we lived there all of our lives. Her faith kept her strong all the way to the end, praying several Hail Marys in the hospital.

May she rest in peace in Heaven united with her one true love Charlie, her parents, brother, son, and granddaughter.
