Boys’ Prep Basketball: Vansickel Lifts Panthers to Saturday Win, Other Weekend Finals

Mount Pleasant 73, West Burlington 53

Owen Vansickel poured in a game-high 25 points lifting Mount Pleasant to a 73-53 win over West Burlington Saturday night.

Vansickel finished 3-of-6 from three point land and made all ten of his foul shots.

Payton Hagans chipped in with 16 points while Dylon Hagans had 12.

Dewon Trent cleaned the glass with a team-high 11 boards.

Mount Pleasant outscored the Falcons 39-22 in the second half to pull away for the win.

The Panthers, now 1-2, will be off until Friday night when they take on Keokuk.

Winfield-Mount Union 62, Van Buren County 43 

Winfield-Mount Union jumped out to a 21-2 lead after one quarter as the Wolves stayed perfect with a 62-43 win over Van Buren County on Saturday.

The Warriors are coached by Mount Pleasant alum Trey Magnani.

Cam Buffington was his usual electric self with a game-high 30 points and 14 rebounds.

Konner Wade finished with 13 points, while Abram Edwards had nine points, eight boards and two blocks.

Van Buren County was led by Izaak Loeffler’s 18 points and eight boards.
