Charles W. “Bill” Davis, 84, of Winfield, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Sunrise Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Winfield United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery. Charles William Davis was born October 27, 1938 in Fredonia, Iowa, the son of William Theodore “Ted” and Clastine (McBee) Davis. He graduated from Winfield High School. Bill was united in marriage to Gail Blair McVey on December 28, 1962 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Bill worked in welding all of his life. He worked for Kings Manufacturing, Jack Bunker and Modern Welding until opening his own welding business which he ran for over 50 years. Bill was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and NASCAR. He loved cars and car racing and in recent years, he enjoyed watching Westerns. Bill loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. He proudly attended all of their activities.
Bill will be deeply missed by his wife, Gail Davis of Winfield; son, Todd (Sarah) Davis of Crawfordsville; son, Tony (Courtney) Davis of Winfield; grandchildren: Layne (Ashtin) Seager, Zach (Morgan) Davis, Mikayla (Jacob) Truitt and Nick Davis; great-granddaughter, Quinlynn Seager; brother, Jerry Davis of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Wilma Bieri.
