Mount Pleasant — The Iowa Wesleyan baseball team split with Mount Mercy yesterday, dropping game one 10-0 and rebounding with a 2-0 win over the Mustangs in game two.
In game one, Mount Mercy used a seven run 6th inning to pull ahead and never look back.
Cauy Massner took the loss, working five innings allowing four hits and six runs, only two earned.
Phillip Guerrero had a single and a stolen bag to lead the Wesleyan offense.
In game two, Luis Ayesa twirled a complete game shutout helping the Tigers earn a 2-0 win.
Ayesa allowed just four hits, four walks while striking out 14 hitters.
Cristian Cordero and Jackson Van Roekel each had a run batted in as the Tigers only had three hits.
The split moved Wesleyan to 13-26 overall.
They’ll be in action next Tuesday when they take on Hannibal-LaGrange in Hannibal, Missouri.
Game one of the twinbill is set to start at 12:00 p.m.
