College Baseball: Wesleyan Swept in Rare Sunday Doubleheader

Mount Pleasant — The Iowa Wesleyan baseball team was swept yesterday in a rare Sunday doubleheader by third-ranked Webster University 4-2 and 15-0.

In game one, Joe Morrison held the Gorloks to one run over six sterling innings, scattering five hits, walking one while punching out five.

Webster, who scored first in the 6th inning, saw Wesleyan grab a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning on RBI base hits by Corbin Broeker and Nick Salas.

From there, however, the Gorloks would score the games’ final three runs scratching across two runs in the 7th and an insurance run in the 9th.

Steve Larson took the loss out of the bullpen for Wesleyan allowing two earned while striking out two.

In game two, Webster pounded out sixteen hits on their way to 15 runs.

Kyler Kent, Ben Swords, Adam Lovell, and A.J. Smith each had two hits for the Gorloks.

Luis Ayesa was the losing pitcher for Wesleyan yielding six hits and six runs while walking two and striking out four.

Now 8-17, Wesleyan will host Webster for two more today.

Game one will be at noon, you can listen to game two on FM 105.5.
