College Basketball: Wesleyan Holds Off LCU’s Second Half Surge

Mount Pleasant — Lincoln Christian outscored Iowa Wesleyan 37-30 in the second half and trimmed a 17-point Wesleyan lead to just two, but the Tigers sunk some clutch free to earn a gutsy 79-72 win over the Red Lions yesterday afternoon.

Dylan Hurley paced the Tigers with 15 points while former New London prep Alex Dentlinger chipped in with 13.

Greenville transfer Marvin Bateman ended with 11 points and hit the the dagger three, giving Wesleyan a nine point lead with just over 3:00 to play in the game.

Josh Donaldson had a game-high 27 points, including a number of highlight real jams to pace the Red Lions.

Wesleyan is now 6-11 on the season.

Alex Huisman’s bunch will next be in action Friday, January 7th at the Crowley Ridge Classic where the Tigers will take on Northern New Mexico College.
