College Football: Wesleyan Falls in Second Half Collapse, Other Statewide Finals

Burlington — The Iowa Wesleyan football team led 32-16 into the third quarter, but saw the Trinity Trojans score 33 consecutive points from that point on to snake a a 49-32 win over the Tigers Saturday at Bracewell Stadium.

Wesleyan signal caller Gavin Esquivel was picked off five times, including three times in the second half that allowed the Trojans to get back into the game.

Esquivel finished 25-of-49 for 254 yards and three scores.

Hezekiah Hunter paced Wesleyan pass catchers with 116 yards on eight snags.

Amir Dunn led the defense with 12 tackles.

Now 0-4, the Tigers will begin conference action next Saturday back at Bracewell Stadium against Valley City State University.

Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
