After dodging rain drops this Independence Day weekend across southeast Iowa, the weather is finally settling down.
Today through Wednesday will bring dry and seasonable conditions with a mix of sunshine and clouds. High temperatures will climb from the lower to upper 80s today into the upper 80s by midweek, while overnight lows remain comfortable in the upper 50s and 60s.
The National Weather Service says humidity will gradually increase through the week, setting the stage for the return of showers and thunderstorms beginning Wednesday night and continuing into Thursday. Rain chances increase to between 30 and 60 percent on Thursday, with highs again in the mid to upper 80s and noticeably more humid conditions.
While the first half of the week looks favorable for outdoor work, travel, and summer activities, residents should keep an eye on the forecast later this week as storm chances return to southeast Iowa.
