With the Fourth of July holiday tomorrow, please note the following schedule changes:
- The Mount Pleasant City offices and the Mount Pleasant Compost Site will be closed today and Saturday, July 4, in observance of the holiday.
- The Henry County Courthouse will be closed today and will resume regular business hours Monday, July 6.
- The Henry County Trash Site is open regular hours today but will be closed tomorrow, Saturday, July 4.
- The U.S. Postal Service will deliver mail today but will not be delivering mail tomorrow.
- Some banks, businesses, and offices may adjust their hours today in observance of the holiday so plan accordingly.
The Salem Farmers Market is open from 4:30pm – 7:30pm on the west side of Salem City Park. The farmers market is open on the first and third Friday of the month through September 18!
Reminder that the Children’s Discovery Center will be closed this July- It will re-open on August 3rd!

Kick off the Fourth of July celebration with Music on Main in downtown Mount Pleasant. Enjoy live entertainment, family activities, great food, and the unveiling of a community time capsule as part of the Pleasantly Patriotic celebration honoring 250 years of America.
Celebrate Danville’s America 250th celebration with an evening of family fun at Bear’s Den Park from 5-8 p.m. The event will feature a Fish and Chick Fry hosted by the Danville Fire Department, the Best Pie in Danville Contest and Pie Auction, a Danville Church Ladies Bake Sale, live music from Band 11-11, a 50/50 raffle, gun raffle, bounce house, and face painting for children. The evening will also include the announcement of Danville’s proposed Veterans Memorial Project and the induction of new Danville Hall of Pride members. Proceeds from the raffles, pie auction, and bake sale will benefit the proposed Veterans Memorial Project. The celebration concludes with a fireworks display at dusk, sponsored by the Danville Fire Department.
The Mount Pleasant Golf & Country Club will kick off its Independence Day celebration with an evening of food, music and fun. A chicken dinner with sides will be served from 5:30 to 7 p.m. (RSVP required). The Couples’ League begins at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the public, followed by Trivia at 6 p.m. Enjoy live music from Linc & the Drifters beginning at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to help start the holiday weekend at the Mount Pleasant Golf & Country Club.
